About Cook-Chill
Cook Chill started in 1985, acting as catering consultants to large projects such as Groote Schuur, Albert Lethule and Pretoria Academic Hospital. The company went on to consult to retirement and old age homes, airlines, retail companies and commercial operations. Projects include public hospitals in Gauteng, Western Cape and Kwazulu Natal feeding over 20,000 meals a day to retirement homes feeding over 5000 meals a day.
Cook Chill have been the main consultant and supplier to all Netcare hospitals since 2000. They are also the supplier to Pick n Pay and Spar for central production kitchen equipment and home meal replacement operations. Cool Chill supply other industrial catering companies such as Vulcan, Allied Catering, Chipkins and Reactaquip. (more on Industrial Catering).
The Q-Cart range of medical storage equipment is used by most hospitals in South Africa – Netcare, Life Healthcare and Mediclinic.
Current projects include:
- several public and private hospitals ;
- a large cook-chill/cook-freeze production facility;
- an oil refinery;
- a large central production unit for a retail group; and
- Several retirement homes.
Cook-Chill are also the sole agents in South Africa for Burlodge, an international company supplying specialized healthcare and hospital food systems.
